Key discipline
Founded in 1949, Veterinary medicine is one of the earliest specialties established by the university. It is the backbone discipline of Henan Province, the subject of doctoral degree authorization, the B-class discipline of advantageous characteristic discipline, the key discipline of provincial discipline and the master's degree authorization point. Veterinary Medicine is the national first-class undergraduate specialty. The supporting conditions of this discipline include 5 platforms above the provincial level, such as Henan Engineering Technology Research Center, Henan Provincial Key Laboratory Cultivation Base of the Ministry of Education, and Henan Provincial Collaborative Innovation Center. There are 4 provincial scientific research and innovation teams.
There are 70 full-time teachers, including 10 professors, accounting for 14.3%; There were 29 associate professors, accounting for 41.43.9%; There were 57 doctors, accounting for 81.4%. There are 37 on-campus master's supervisors and 26 off-campus master's supervisors. Among them, the discipline team has more than 10 people, such as national outstanding teachers, Central Plains science and technology innovation leading talents, Central Plains youth top-notch talents, Henan Provincial government special allowance experts, Henan Provincial academic technology leaders, and Henan Provincial university science and technology innovation talents.
Focusing on the development needs of the veterinary industry in Henan Province, this discipline has formed obvious advantages and characteristics by establishing various methods of early rapid diagnosis, rapid typing detection and vaccine immune protection evaluation for common viral and bacterial diseases, and developing corresponding products. In the past five years, the discipline has undertaken 11 national scientific research projects, 2 provincial and ministerial science and technology progress awards, 36 other science and technology awards, 43 authorized invention patents, and more than 30 monographs or textbooks have been published. Agricultural science, plant and animal science have successively entered the top 1% of ESI worldwide.
